In December, 2010, Ms. Carey J. Fagan became the Executive Director for International Affairs of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In this role, Ms. Fagan is responsible for developing international policy and providing guidance across the various disciplines of FAA. She oversees the FAA's international offices in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Fagan was the Director for the FAA's Air Traffic Organization's (ATO) International Office.
Ms. Fagan brings twenty years of federal government experience, fifteen of which have been in the international area, with her to the position and office. Ms. Fagan collaborates across FAA to develop and ensure an overall international strategy as well as foster and maintain partnerships with the international aviation community. Ms. Fagan represents the Agency in international forums such as the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
In addition, Ms. Fagan has served as the Director of the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) Global Harmonization Work Group since 2005. As such, Ms. Fagan works with government and industry partners to establish initiatives and work programs to achieve the international goals of NextGen. The Global Harmonization Work Group's primary role is addressing challenges in building a seamless operational environment and developing new models for aviation stakeholders to transform the international aviation system.
Previous to her international assignments, Ms. Fagan held positions in the aviation inspection and policy offices within FAA. Prior to joining FAA, Ms. Fagan spent ten years with various financial firms involved in major aircraft leasing programs. Ms. Fagan holds a degree in Finance from the University of Georgia.
