Sasha JohnsonSasha Johnson was appointed as Chief of Staff to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in May 2013. Prior to this position, Sasha served as Assistant to former U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and DOT Director of Public Affairs and the Assistant Administrator for Communications at the FAA. Sasha initially joined the Obama Administration in May 2009 when she was appointed as press secretary to former Secretary LaHood.

Before coming to DOT, Sasha worked at the Cable News Network (CNN) as a senior producer where she covered presidential and Washington politics. During her eleven years with the network, Sasha covered the 2000, 2004, and 2008 presidential campaigns as well as news events like the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. While at CNN Sasha also served as a senior producer on the program Inside Politics with Judy Woodruff.

Sasha is a 1998 graduate of Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
