In October 2012, Ray Towles became the Administration's Deputy Assistant Administrator for Regions and Center Operations (ARC). ARC provides government, Department of Transportation, and FAA-wide services in the areas of corporate outreach, emergency readiness, property management, facilities management, and centralized NAS supply support, repair, training and franchise business application development. Prior to joining ARC, Ray held several positions in the FAA's Flight Standards organization, including: Deputy Director, Flight Standards Field Operations; Manager, Flight Standards Division, Western Pacific Region; Deputy Division Manager, Flight Standards, Certification and Surveillance Division; Assistant Manager and Team Leader, Flight Standards, Certification and Surveillance Division; and Aviation Safety Inspector, Denver Flight Standards Office. Prior to joining the FAA in 1990, Ray held various management positions at Trans World Airlines, Inc. and Ozark Airlines, Inc. Ray earned his degree in physics and mathematics at Saint Louis University (Parks College of Aeronautical Technology) and holds an airframe and power plant certificate.
