Boston AEG - Engine Group Duties and Responsibilities

The Boston AEG serves the Eastern Region Flight Standards Division. We provide technical services to the Engine and Propeller Aircraft Certification Office at the New England Region Office in Burlington, Massachusetts. We are active participants in engine and propeller certification under 14 CFR Parts 33 and 35.

Our responsibilities include:

  • Initialize and revise Master Minimum Equipment Lists (MMEL) revisions
  • Technical assistance for the review of Engine and Propeller manuals and related supplements
  • Participation on Airworthiness Directives (AD) boards
  • Review and accept initial and revised Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA)

We lead or participate on:

  • Flight Operations Evaluation Boards (FOEB)
  • Flight Standardization Board (FSB)
  • Maintenance Review Boards (MRB)
  • Type Certification Boards (TCB)
  • Airplane Flight Manual Review (AFM)
  • Technical Subject Matter Experts (SME)
