Kansas City AEG - Small Aircraft Support Duties and Responsibilities

The Kansas City Aircraft Evaluation Group (MKC-AEG) serves the Central Region Flight Standards Division and is co-located with the Small Airplane Directorate. We provide technical services to both the Small Airplane Directorate and the Transport Aircraft Directorate. We participate in all aircraft certification under 14 CFR Parts 23 and selected 14 CFR Part 25 airplanes of the Federal Aviation Regulations. We also provide similar services for the certification of gliders, airships, and balloons.

Our responsibilities include:

• Initialize Master Minimum Equipment Lists (MMEL) revisions
• Technical assistance for the review of aircraft flight manuals and related supplements
• Participation on Airworthiness Directives (AD) boards
• Review and accept initial and revised Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA)

We lead or participate on:

• Flight Operations Evaluation Boards (FOEB)
• Maintenance Review Boards (MRB)
• Type Certification Boards (TCB)
• Flight Manual Review Boards (FMRB)
