Role of FAA AVSED Counselor is to:

  • Present the face of the FAA to the public
  • Support the Agency's vision, mission and values
  • Encourage students to explore aviation and aerospace career opportunities
  • Emphasize FAA's responsiveness to national and aviation security challenges
  • Encourage STEM studies

Many FAA employees volunteer their time and talent to become AVSED ambassadors because it:

  • Helps them become involved in their own communities
  • Allows them to share their passion for aviation with others
  • Feels good to give back to society
  • Provides opportunities for public speaking
  • Helps support our FAA Flight plan initiative
  • Provides an opportunity to share expertise with the younger generation
  • Gets them out of their "cubicle"
  • Feels good to know you are working to "make a difference" in our future workforce
  • Provides inspiration and motivation to young people
  • Allows them to serve as role models
  • Helps to educate the general public about the FAA mission
