The Commercial Space Transportation Advisory Committee (COMSTAC) Systems Working Group (SWG) held a series of public teleconferences focusing on human space flight from August 2012 through April 2013. The last teleconference was held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Information about all teleconferences can be found in the Archive section below.
The teleconferences were held to assist the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in its preliminary development of regulations to protect occupants of commercial suborbital and orbital spacecraft. Although FAA has not yet targeted a date for proposing regulations to protect the health and safety of crew and space flight participants, FAA believes that the development of sound and appropriate regulations for human space flight can only be achieved with a deliberate, multi-year effort. Moreover, FAA believes that early industry input into this regulatory effort before any formal proposal by FAA is critical. The first teleconference was held on August 14, 2012.
