Dr. Mark Campbell is currently the Chairman of the Aerospace Medical Association Commercial Space Flight Working Group. This group has recently approved a position paper on "Suborbital Commercial Space Flight Crewmember Medical Issues" which will be published in the association journal, "Aviation Space and Environmental Medicine." He is also on the Executive Committee of the Space Medicine Association and the Council of the Aerospace Medical Association.
Dr. Campbell is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed his surgical residency at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston, Texas, and Bracken Ridge Hospital in Austin, Texas. Dr. Campbell has twice been deployed to Star City, Russia as a NASA Flight Surgeon. First he supported the Shuttle-Mir program and then he served as consultant for KRUG Life Sciences providing flight surgeon support.
He has published extensively in medical and space medicine journals. Dr. Campbell currently works in private practice as a general surgeon.
