The Boeing Company launched a Delta II launch vehicle on 10 June 1998, at 00:35 UTC. The Delta II, launched from Cape Canaveral Air Station, Florida, carried the THOR III satellite. The THOR III, owned by Telenor of Oslo, Norway, is a high-power HS 376 model built by Hughes Space and Communications Company. It will be collocated with the other Thor satellites at 1 degree West longitude, and will provide direct-to-home television programming to the Nordic countries and central and eastern Europe.
