Federal Aviation Administration

VISION

OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE THE SAFEST, MOST EFFICIENT AEROSPACE SYSTEM IN THE WORLD.

OUR VISION

We continue to improve the safety and efficiency of flight.
We are responsive to our customers.
We are accountable to the taxpayers and flying public.

OUR VALUES

Safety is Our Passion.  Were the world leaders in aerospace safety.
Quality is Our Trademark.  We serve our country, our customers, and each other.
Integrity is Our Character.  We do the right thing, even when no one is looking.
People Are Our Strength.  We treat people as we want to be treated.

Taking Stock of Where We, The FAA, Are Today.

Our safety record is unparalleled in the history of transportation. Weve achieved it by systematically identifying, analyzing and addressing each facet. Weve never been content to accept the status quo and were still focused on making it better. Weve trained our sights on the year 2025.19 years away. The demand for air travel could triple by that time, and the need to fly safely and on time will not change.

The Flight Plan developed is our roadmap that will lead us to these changes. There are four areas highlighted to achieve our vision.

INCREASED SAFETY
The Flight Plan is our commitment to reduce commercial and general aviation fatal accidents. We strive to cut runway incursions, operational errors, and hazardous material incidents.

We have set the highest safety standards in the history of aviation. Even so, our goal is as always to continue to improve aviation safety. We address our operational vulnerabilities to reduce risk. We work to improve airport infrastructure, safety management systems awareness, runway safety training, and new procedures.

GREATER CAPACITY
We must increase airport and airspace capacity to meet future demands on our aviation system. The number of passengers continues to increase each year, and we continue to work with all airspace users to increase the reliability and predictability of air travel.

INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP
Our goal is to increase the safety and capacity of the global civil aerospace system in an environmentally sound manner.

ORGANIZATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Our goal is to ensure the success of the FAAs mission through stronger leadership, a better-trained and safer workforce, enhanced cost-control measures, and improved decision-making based on reliable data.

How do we all fit into this plan --- every FAA employee can point to one or more of the four Flight Plan goals and say, I do work that supports that. How? Every employee has performance standards and at the top of each standard are the FAA goals and objectives your standard supports. By each employee working together with his or her supervisor we can all support the FAA mission.
