It is important to understand that NextGen is a portfolio program. With JPDO, FAA has identified a number of new programs that directly support the transformation of the NAS. These technologies are highly interdependent. A number of existing programs will also be modified to enable NextGen. By integrating functions from multiple programs, we can build new air traffic management capabilities.
