The objective of merging and spacing is to achieve a desired spacing interval between successive arriving aircraft. The desired interval should approximate the interval needed by the controller prior to hand off to a down stream sector. This application may be conducted during a portion of the en route or terminal environment, through a structure arrival route that connects to an approach procedure, and terminates at the final approach fix.

Please contact Amy Kirkham, ADS-B communications lead, for further information.
