The SBS WSA office has been working with University of Alaska’s Aviation Technology Division in Anchorage for many years to provide ADS-B awareness programs, training, and equipage options.
These efforts include:Working for the FAA, the University of Alaska developed the FAA-approved training program for avionics installed in phase I and II Capstone Project aircraft, and FAA Industry Training Standards (FITS) training for ADS-B and Cockpit Display of Traffic Information, as well as other aspects of TAA (Technologically Advanced Aircraft) training.
The university will make training available on a regular basis for FAR Part 91 pilots and will provide “train-the-trainer” training for commercial operators. Training also will be available for use by flight schools and other training agencies, which will be given materials and “train-the-trainer” training.
