Network Enabled Operations (NEO)

Description

Network Enabled Operations (NEO) is a multi-agency program (FAA, DoD, DHS) aimed at improving inter-agency information sharing and situational awareness through the use of modern network enabled tools, technologies, and operational procedures.

The NEO goals focus on enhancing and accelerating the NextGen mission, especially in the following areas:

  • Demonstrating National Airspace System (NAS) transformational concepts traceable to the NextGen Operational Improvement (OI)
  • Ensuring each partner agency’s net-enabled information architectures are compatible and interoperable
  • Defining and developing net-centric capabilities that can be fielded operationally
  • Collection of data to enhance the NEO business case and validate JPDO-developed models/simulation for NextGen.

The NEO Program is envisioned to provide the stakeholders with the connectivity and interoperability necessary to rapidly and dynamically share information.  Spiral 1 demonstration provided a pathway to facilitate a coherent vision of applications in joint decision making process.  Spiral 2 is to focus on the development of the Enterprise Service Bus prototype, supported by demonstration activities.
