A Third Party Survey (TPS) is conducted by a non-governmental commercial, professional surveyor to meet SATNAV procedure development. This requirement has exceeded the capacity the NOAA/NGS can perform.
In January 2005, a website was developed to assist in the submittal of TPS to the FAA. Surveys not supported by the Airport Improvement Program must submit their data to the FAA Third Party Survey System (TPSS).
Surveys are submitted in Universal Data Delivery Format (UDDF). A UDDF creator was developed to assist the submittors and is available for download on the TPSS web site.
An Airport Surveying - GIS Program site is in development to accept survey data from airports supported by the Airports Improvement Program.
Currently, FAA No. 405 is the specifications for TPS's not funded by the Airport
Improvement Program.
The 405 can be accessed via the NGS website. See link at the bottom of page.
Visit TPSS to request access.
Surveys submitted to Airports GIS follow specifications as stated in AC150/5300-16/17/18.
