The System Operations Safety Management (SOSM) Office was formally established July 2, 2007 to develop, guide, and oversee safety management activities within System Operations. The SOSM Office staff is committed to facilitating collaborative and comprehensive review, determination, mitigation, and documentation of risks and hazards created through NAS changes.
The SOSM Organization:
- Collaborates on Safety Management System(SMS) national policies, standards, and formal and informal guidance
- Leads and validates the design, development, and establishment of plans, processes, training, and implementation of SMS in System Operations Services
- Provides oversight and guidance in conducting and documenting Safety Risk Management (SRM) activities, ensuring the application of SMS Management in all operations and programmatic requirements
- Conducts safety reviews, audits, and assessments of SRM documentation and performs data analyses of safety risk mitigation strategies
