FAA Flight Plan Goals Relationship

SWIM supports the FAA Flight Plan goals.  The Flight Plan is a roadmap and report card for FAA performance.  For more information or to view the FAA Flight Plan please use the following link: http://www.faa.gov/about/plans_reports/

SWIM supports the FAA Strategic Goal - Organization Excellence.
  • Objective 2: Improve Financial Management While Delivering Quality Customer Service.

  • SWIM will reduce the cost to add new interfaces to NAS systems, and will enable more connectivity and broader information distribution.
SWIM also supports two Flight Plan activities:

2009
Identify initial set of SWIM standards and make available to both internal users and external users such as DoD, DHS and airline operations centers to govern their access to FAA's traffic flow and flight management data.

2012
Achieve initial standardized SWIM Segment 1 capability in traffic flow and flight management between the traffic flow management system (TFMS) and en-route automation modernization (ERAM).

ATO Strategic Management Process (SMP) Goals Relationship

The SMP is the tool used for defining ATO objectives, initiatives, measures and targets.

SWIM supports the SMP Pathway 2 goal - Enhance Financial Discipline.
  • P2.4: Reduce unit cost and improve value of operations.
SWIM will provide cost savings through automation of manual processes for capturing weather reports and updating special use airspace (SUA) status, and cost avoidance by enabling early retirement of HOST/Air Traffic Management Data Distribution System (HADDS) and Flight Data Input/Output (FDIO).
