The list of U.S. CAT I 1800 RVR Runways and CAT 2-3 airports is considered “For Information Purposes Only” and may not be current. Unless a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) is issued, operators are authorized to use a published 14 CFR Part 97 instrument approach procedure chart on its effective date.

The Restricted U.S. facility list and foreign CAT 2-3 airport list still “require prior AFS-400 approval” and must be listed on this website before U.S. air carriers can be authorized the operation. Once listed, Principal Operations Inspectors may approve their operator via Operations Specifications or Letter of Authorization, whichever applicable.

The CAT 2-3 status lists will be published, in its entirety, on January 31 and July 31 of each year. Interim changes, highlighted in red, will normally correspond with the standard 56-day charting cycle but updates earlier than the 56-day cycle may be conducted on a case-by-case basis. The CAT 2-3 status lists replace the information normally contained in appendix 4 of FAA Order 8400.8, Procedures for the Approval of Facilities for FAR 121 and Part 135 CAT 3 Operations, current edition.
