Flight Standards Safety Analysis Information Center (FSAIC)
- Develops performance assessment techniques based on risk analysis and a systems approach.
- Improves air transportation surveillance and oversight programs by employing human factors research and systems approach concepts.
- Performs comprehensive assessments using traditional research and advanced statistical analysis tools, and coordinates changes to system processes as necessary.
- Monitors the financial status of air operators, focusing on those incurring financial distress, and generates reports and information for principal inspectors and Certificate Management Teams.
- Provides analytical tools to principal inspectors and Certificate Management Teams during special emphasis surveillance, such as during labor unrest and contract negotiations.
- Maintains accurate and timely reporting procedures to research and analyze aviation safety information for customers in response to significant aviation events, congressional inquiries, requests from the Government Accountability Office, the DOT Office of the Inspector General, and other organizations.
- Maintains a liaison with Department of Defense (DoD) Air Mobility Command (AMC) in order to provide FAA audit teams with DoD audit information, thereby providing more comprehensive evaluations and improving aviation safety. Maintains an outreach partnership, sharing information with aviation safety organizations such as the DOT/Office of the Secretary of Transportation, Office of Aviation Analysis, Bureau of Transportation Statistics, DoD and AMC, and civil aviation authorities.
