The Office of International Aviation (API) is responsible for coordinating FAA's international efforts and advancing the nation's longstanding leadership on the international front. Our aim is to increase the safety and capacity of the global aerospace system in an environmentally sound manner.

API promotes the agency's policies and practices to aviation authorities throughout the world. With a particular focus on providing technical assistance and training to meet international safety standards, API utilizes resources in over 15 international offices, including the International Civil Aviation Organization, a United Nation specialized agency. In recognition of FAA's leadership in civil aviation, API is responsible for coordinating the agency's international priorities internally and externally. In addition, API provides leadership for the international business operations of the agency, which provides logistical support for the over 100 personnel stationed abroad.
