External Funding
The External Funding Initiative was added to the FAA Flight Plan for FY 2004-2008 to increase funding for international aviation projects by coordinating the agency's funding initiatives and conducting outreach activities that influence sources of funding. The program enables FAA to leverage its scarce staff and funding resources to support beneficial aviation projects throughout the world. For example, funding has been secured to bring countries into compliance with ICAO safety standards; develop regional safety oversight organizations; support public/private partnerships; and rebuild aviation infrastructure.
