Explanation of Changes
Basic
Direct questions
through appropriate facility/service center office staff
to the Office of Primary Interest (OPI).
a. 3-3-4. Naming of
waypoints, intersections, and DME fixes
A fix or waypoint
name change is required if a fix/waypoint is moved 1 nautical mile (NM) or
more unless operational requirements dictate otherwise. This change keeps
the terminology the same as it is currently published and only changes the
numerical value. This change cancels and incorporates N JO 7400.28, Naming
of Waypoints, Intersections, and DME Fixes, effective September 19, 2011.
b. Entire
publication.
In compliance with
FAA Order 1000.36, FAA Writing Standards, the word “shall” is replaced
with “must” to ensure plain language standards are applied (with few
exceptions).
Now that Flight
Service Stations (FSS) nationwide are using modern automated operational
systems, there is no longer a need for identifying certain sites as
“automated." Therefore, the term has been removed from the publication.
c. Additional
editorial/format changes were made where necessary. Revision bars were not
used because of the insignificant nature of these changes.
