a. Chapter 1
Adds definition for “pertinent.”
b. CHAPTER 2
Updates chapter to include automation. The
requirement for Meteorological Information for
Aircraft in Flight (VOLMET ICAO) is transferred to
Technical Operations. Deletes Transcribed Weather
Broadcast (TWEB) route forecast products because
they are no longer produced by the NWS. Deletes
Radar Reports (RAREP) because the product is not
utilized by the Flight Service Station.
c. CHAPTER 3
Adds additional weather products to improve situational awareness and increase safety: GAIRMET
graphic, Graphical Turbulence Guidance, Current
Icing Product, and Forecast Icing Product.
d. CHAPTER 4
Deletes the requirement to limit weather advisories to
a 150mile radius of the aircraft's position because it
is unnecessary and has the appearance of limiting the
briefer's responsibility for providing weather
advisories. Adds AFIS broadcast requirement under
routine radio contacts.
e. CHAPTER 5
Deletes Direction Finder (DF) Net Control and DF
Net Control position no longer an FSS requirement.
f. CHAPTER 6
Deletes para. 651, Military Training Activity; and
652, Aerial Refueling Tracks; these functions have
been realigned to FAAO JO 7930.2, Notices to
Airmen (NOTAM).
g. CHAPTER 7
Adds requirement that all IFR flights departing U.S.
domestic airspace and entering international airspace
must file an ICAO flight plan.
h. CHAPTER 9
Updates Weather Message Switching Center
Replacement (WMSCR) phone number. Deletes
Section 3, Radar Weather Report (SD/ROB) because
the product is no longer produced by the NWS.
Deletes Section 9, Transcribed Weather Broadcast
(TWEB), because the TWEB is no longer produced
by the NWS. Deletes Section 10, Meterological
Impact Statement (MIS) because the product is not
used by the FSS.
i. CHAPTER 10
Realigned to chapter 13
j. CHAPTER 13
Deletes GENOT processing; this is no longer a FSS
function. Realigned to chapter 10.
k. APPENDIX B
Adds FSS forms to the Order.
l. Removes all references to equipment; for
example, M1FC and OASIS.
m. Additional editorial/format changes were made
where necessary.
