The Senior Technical Specialist for Aviation Fuels and Lubricants provides leadership for FAA oversight of aviation fuel research, development, testing, operational and maintenance related issues. In this role, the STS serves as an advisor to the Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety, the Director of the Aircraft Certification service, and the Director of the Office of Environment and Energy, as well as provides advisory services to other government agencies, professional and academic organizations, and industry on national and international issues involving aviation fuels and lubricants. The Senior Technical Specialist has obtained U.S. leadership in the evolving discipline of aviation fuel and FAA leadership in the development and implementation of technical standards for new aviation fuels.
