Amateur-Built Aircraft Kits
The FAA does not certify aircraft kits nor approve kit manufacturers. However, the FAA does perform evaluations to determine if an aircraft built from a kit will meet the "major portion" requirement of 14 CFR section 21.191(g). Here is the List of Amateur-Built Aircraft Kits that have been evaluated by the FAA.
The Amateur-Built aircraft kit list has been revised and is now in a searchable format. You may search by manufacturer name or by the name of the aircraft kit. You may also print out the complete list.
If you are a kit manufacturer and wish to schedule an evaluation, please contact your local Manufacturing Inspection District Office (MIDO).
