General Guidance and Specifications for Aeronautical Surveys: Establishment of Geodetic Control and Submission to the National Geodetic Survey
Explains the specifications for establishing geodetic control on or near an airport. It also describes how to submit the information to the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) for approval and inclusion in the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) in support of aeronautical information surveys. See also Airports GIS Video Training Series.
Buildings for Storage and Maintenance of Airport Snow and Ice Control Equipment and Materials
Provides guidance for the site selection and design of buildings used to store and maintain airport snow and ice control equipment, store approved materials, and provide personnel areas required to support the requirements under the airport operator’s winter storm management plan.
Segmented Circle Airport Marker System
Sets forth standards for a system of airport marking consisting of certain pilot aids and traffic control devices.
Generic Visual Glideslope Indicators (GVGI)
Contains the FAA standards for generic visual glideslope indicators systems. GVGI systems provide pilots with visual glideslope guidance during approaches for landing at general aviation airports.
Hazardous Wildlife Attractants On or Near Airports
Provides guidance on certain land uses that have the potential to attract hazardous wildlife on or near public-use airports. It also discusses airport development projects (including airport construction, expansion, and renovation) affecting aircraft movement near hazardous wildlife attractants.
Specification L-854, Radio Control Equipment
Contains the specifications for radio control equipment to be used for controlling airport lighting facilities.
Specification for L-893, Lighted Visual Aid to Indicate Temporary Runway Closure
Provides guidance in the design of a lighted visual aid to indicate temporary runway closure.
Announcement Of Availability Of Airport Self-Inspection DVD
Announces the availability of the Airport Safety Self-Inspection DVD, which replaces the previously issued videotape. It also corrects a previously released announcement, dated January 31, 2007, that was incorrectly numbered AC 150/5200-18C.
Airport Master Plans
Provides guidance for the preparation of airport master plans that range in size and function from small general aviation to large commercial service facilities. Appendix D of this AC cancels Chapter 1, Section 5; Appendix 6; and Appendix 7 of AC 150/5300-13, Airport Design. Consolidated file contains Change 1.
Low-Impact Resistant (LIR) Structures
Contains the FAA specifications for low-impact resistant (LIR) structures used to support approach lighting systems (ALS) at airports.
Introduction to Safety Management Systems (SMS) for Airport Operators
Introduces the concept of a safety management system (SMS) for airport operators.
Exclusive Rights at Federally Obligated Airports
Provides basic information about the FAA's prohibition on the granting of exclusive rights at federally-obligated airports. This prohibition is one of the obligations assumed by the airport sponsors of public airports that have accepted federal assistance, either in the form of grants or property conveyances. This AC cancels AC 150/5190-5 (Change 1), Exclusive Rights and Minimum Standards for Commercial Aeronautical Activities, dated June 10, 2002.
Aircraft Arresting Systems
Contains FAA standards and recommendations for the installations of aircraft arresting systems on civil airports not owned or operated by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). This AC does not describe Engineered Materials Arresting Systems (EMAS). For guidance on EMAS, see AC 150/5220-22, Engineered Materials Arresting Systems (EMAS) for Aircraft Overruns.
Surface Drainage Design
Provides guidance for engineers, airport managers, and the public in the design and maintenance of airport surface drainage systems. Combines existing surface drainage topics covered in different agency manuals into one Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) document that will serve as the design and analysis standard for surface drainage for FAA and the Department of Defense. Consolidated file contains Change 1.
Off-Peak Construction of Airport Pavements Using Hot-Mix Asphalt
Provides guidance for the planning, coordination, management, design, testing, inspection, and execution of off-peak construction of airport pavements using hot-mix asphalt (HMA) paving materials. Also focuses on HMA airfield pavement construction and applies to other types of airfield improvements where off-peak construction is identified as the preferred delivery method.
Circuit Selector Switch
Contains a specification for a circuit selector switch for use in airport lighting circuits.
Airport Pavement Management Program
Discusses the Airport Pavement Management System (APMS) concept, its essential components, and how it can be used to make cost-effective decisions about pavement maintenance and rehabilitation.
Minimum Standards for Commercial Aeronautical Activities
Provides basic information about the FAA's recommendations on commercial minimum standards and related policies. Although minimum standards are optional, the FAA highly recommends their use and implementation as a means to minimize the potential for violations of Federal obligations at federally obligated airports. This AC cancels AC 150/5190-5 (Change 1), Exclusive Rights and Minimum Standards for Commercial Aeronautical Activities, dated June 10, 2002.
Construction or Establishment of Landfills near Public Airports
Contains guidance on complying with new Federal statutory requirements regarding the construction or establishment of landfills near public airports.
Land Acquisition and Relocation Assistance for Airport Improvement Program Assisted Projects
Provides guidance to sponsors of airport projects developed under the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) to meet the requirements of the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 (PL 91-646, as amended) and the Regulations of the Office of the Secretary of Transportation, 49 CFR Part 24.
