Standards for Airport Markings
This AC contains the FAA standards for markings used on airport runways, taxiways, and aprons.
Specification for Wind Cone Assemblies
This AC contains a specification for wind cone assemblies to be used to provide wind information to pilots. This revision revises the equipment qualification requirements to be furnished under the Federal grant assistance program for airports, applies photometric requirements for internally lighted wind cones to both Size 1 and Size 2 windsocks, and makes editorial changes.
Specification for Runway and Taxiway Signs
This AC contains the FAA specifications for unlighted and lighted signs to be used on taxiways and runways.
Specification for Airport and Heliport Beacons
Contains equipment specifications for light beacons that are used to locate and identify civil airports, military airports, seaplane bases, and heliports.
Segmented Circle Airport Marker System
This AC provides standards for a system of airport marking consisting of certain pilot aids and traffic control devices.
Qualifications for Wildlife Biologist Conducting Wildlife Hazard Assessments and Training Curriculums for Airport Personnel Involved in Controlling Wildlife Hazards on Airports (Consolidated AC includes Change 1)
Describes the qualifications for wildlife biologists who conduct Wildlife Hazard Assessments (WHA) for airports certificated under 14 CFR Part 139 and at non-certificated airports funded by the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) or Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) Program. Addresses the minimum wildlife hazard management curriculum for the initial and recurrent training of airport personnel who implement an FAA-approved Wildlife Hazard Management Plan (WHMP).
Consolidated AC includes Change 1 dated 1/31/2013. See also--
Programs for Training of Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Personnel
This AC provides information on courses and reference materials for training of Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) personnel. This revision replaces Appendix 1 with an Addendum of Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Training Facilities, which the FAA will update on a quarterly basis. It also removes the one minute time requirement for donning of Personal Protective Equipment and the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus.
Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) Systems
Contains the FAA standards for the Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) systems, which provides pilots with visual glideslope guidance during approach for landing.
Painting, Marking, and Lighting of Vehicles Used on an Airport
Provides guidance, specifications, and standards for painting, marking, and lighting of ground vehicles operating in the airport air operations area (AOA). The approved lights, colors, and markings described in the AC assure the conspicuity of vehicles operating in the AOA from both the ground and the air. The AC contains new specifications and recommendations for the painting, marking, and lighting of Towbarless Tow Vehicles (TLTVs).
Operational Safety on Airports During Construction
Provides guidelines for operational safety on airports during construction. Principal changes include prohibiting construction in safety areas when associated runway or taxiway is open, providing guidance for incorporating safety risk management, and including checklists for writing Construction Safety and Phasing Plans (CSPP) and for daily inspections.
Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) for Airport Operators
This AC provides guidance on using the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) system for reporting airport facilities changes or outages and for airport condition reporting. It explains procedures used to describe, format, and disseminate information on unanticipated or temporary changes to components of, or hazards in, the National Airspace System (NAS).
Maintenance of Airport Visual Aid Facilities
This AC provides guidance and specifications for the Maintenance of airport Visual Aid Facilities.
Hazardous Wildlife Attractants On or Near Airports
Provides guidance on certain land uses that have the potential to attract hazardous wildlife on or near public-use airports. It also discusses airport development projects (including airport construction, expansion, and renovation) affecting aircraft movement near hazardous wildlife attractants.
Guide Specification for Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Vehicles
Provides an interactive specification that airports can use in procuring Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles. It describes the selection process, vehicle requirements, and how to produce formal specifications.
Ground Vehicle Operations to include Taxiing or Towing an Aircraft on Airports
This AC and its appendices provide guidance to airport operators about developing training programs for safe ground vehicle operations, personnel taxiing or towing an aircraft, and pedestrian control on the movement and safety areas of an airport.
This version represents a major rewrite. The AC now addresses aircraft being taxied by persons other than certificated pilots; adds a definition for Airport Operations Area; revises the definition for Non-Movement Area; replaces the term “Ramp” with “Apron” to harmonize with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex 14 Volume 1; adds a definition for Vehicle or Pedestrian Deviation; provides guidance for towered airports on Part 139 requirements for people and equipment in the Runway Safety Area (RSA); calls for a Letter of Agreement at towered airports between the airport operator, the tower, and FAA Technical Operations; provides guidance on taxing and/or towing aircraft in the movement area by non-pilots; and incorporates numerous changes to format and content throughout the document.
