Aeronautical Information Exchange Model
The Federal Aviation Administration is working with ICAO and its partners in NGA and Eurocontrol to adopt and refine a conceptual and exchange model for aeronautical data: AIXM. The Aeronautical Information Exchange Model (AIXM) as originally developed by Eurocontrol to assist with the harmonization and electronic distribution of Aeronautical Information Publications (AIP). AIXM is a model that describes the entities, and relationships for aeronautical features such as airports, runways, airspace, terminal procedures and other features. AIXM describes XML messages and features used to exchange information about the aeronautical data.
Since 2002, the FAA has been working with Eurocontrol to expand the capabilities of AIXM and to promote AIXM as a global standard for aeronautical data. The purpose this web site is to provide FAA Specific Information about AIXM. For details on AIXM vist AIXM Web Site
This FAA initiative is under the auspices of the System Operations - Airspace Information Management division in close cooperation with Flight Procedures.
