Scheduled international operators need to negotiate an air agreement with or apply for special authorization to: Chief, Eritrean Civil Aviation Authority, P.O. Box 252, Asmara, Eritrea. (AFTN: HAASYAYX or TELEX: 11334151 HOVA-X) 2. For nonscheduled air traffic, prior permission is required for any civil aircraft intending to carry out a nonscheduled or a series of nonscheduled flights in transit (overflight) or for the purpose of making commercial or noncommercial landing in Ertirea, disembarking or taking on passengers or cargo mail. Application for permission shall be submitted to the Eritrean Civil Aviation Authority. The application for permission should include the following information: a. Aircraft registration marks and call-sign. b. Type of aircraft. c. Operator/owner of aircraft and postal address. d. Point of departure and destination. e. Point of entry/exit and estimated time over the boundary of the Eritrean territory within the Addis Ababa FIR. Note- Due to the presence of various types of birds on and in the vicinity of Dire Dawa and Asmara airports, pilots should exercise caution during landing and take-off. 3. Passport, proof of onward/return ticket, and visa required. Tourist visa requires 1 application, 1 photo, $25 fee (no personal checks), and proof of sufficient funds. Business visa requires company letter stating purpose of travel. Allow 3 working days for processing. Include SASE for return of passport by mail. Exit tax must be paid before leaving Eritrea.
