Aircraft Entry Requirements

Permission

1. All private and nonscheduled commercial flights overflying or landing for noncommercial purposes at the international airports of Ilopango and El Salvador must obtain prior permission only and exclusively through AFTN: MSSSYAYX 24 hours prior to flight, only on working days from 1400 to 2200 UTC.

2. Charter flights must obtain prior permission through AFTN: MSSSYAYX 5 days prior to the flight.

3. Entry request must include:

a. Name of aircraft operator.

b. Aircraft type and registration marks.

c. Dates and times of entry and departure from the airspace of El Salvador.

d. Point of departure, route of flight and final destination.

e. Purpose of flight, number of passengers, quality and kind of merchandise on board.

f. Name and address of charterer, if any.

g. Names of crew members and their license numbers.

h. Flight route and altitude of aircraft (for overflight only).

4. Each applicant must await a response or be subject to a fine of $200 U.S. dollars or the equivalent in local currency may be imposed. It must be paid in cash.

5. Military aircraft should request a landing permit from the Minister of Defense, Ministerio De Defensa (FAX: 503-221-2797).

6. Nonmilitary aircraft on official missions should request landing permits from the Director General DE Protocolo, Ministerio De Relaciones Exteriores (Fax: 503-243-3762).

Corporate Aircraft Constraints

Catobage requires permission of Civil Aviation Authorities.

Special Notices

1. Arrival and departure will be via international airports only.

2. Entry and exit for aircraft with 12 person capacity or less and 15,000 pounds of gross weight must be from the Ilopango International Airport (hours of service 1200 to 2400 UTC).

3. Entry and exit for aircraft with larger capacity and greater weight must be from the International Airport of El Salvador (COMALAPA) (hours of service 1200 to 0400 or upon request AIS/ATC Services H24).

4. Before taking off from any international airport all aircraft must present a flight plan in ICAO approved format to the ATS in charge. This requirement also applies to Military aircraft.
