The categories of airports are:

M-Major

International airports of entry and departure where all formalities incident to Customs, Immigration, Health and similar procedures are carried out, and which are open to scheduled and nonscheduled flights.

R-Restricted

International airports of entry and departure at which the formalities incident to Customs, Immigration, Health and similar procedures are made available on a restricted basis, to flights with prior approval only.

A-Alternate

International airports specified in the flight plan to which a flight may proceed when it becomes inadvisable to land at the airport of intended landing.

N-Nonscheduled

International airports at which approval may be granted, provided the prescribed prior notice is given, for international nonscheduled flights only; no other form of international operation is permitted.

E-External

International airports of entry and departure for international air traffic located in an administered territory, where all formalities incident to Customs, Immigration, Health and similar procedures are available.

2. Further Entry Requirements

     1. Permission is required for all aircraft planning to enter the Albanian airspace. Application must be made to: ALBTRANSNPORT RRUGA KONGRESI PERMETIT, 202 TIRANA, ALBANIA. (TELEX) 2124 AIRTAN AB (TELEPHONE) 355 42 3026. The application must be submitted through the authority at lease five (5) working days prior to the planned flight and shall include the following information:

       a. Nationality of aircraft.

       b. Type of aircraft.

       c. Registration.

       d. Radio callsign

       e. Flight number (if different from item d).

       f. Operators name and address including AFTN and SITA address.

       g. Departure aerodrome (ICAO ATS FPL format).

       h. Destination aerodrome (ICAO ATS FPL format).

       i. Purpose of flight.

       j. Approximate entry time.

       k. Route.

     2. Permission will be valid for a period of 24 hours from the entry time applied for in item j, above. It is forbidden to enter TIRANA FIR/UIR carrying munitions of war, other military material or radioactive materials.

     3. A passport is required. An entry card will be issued at the point of entry for $10 (U.S.) that is valid for a stay of up to 30 days. Apply for an extension of up to 180 days at the local police station. Departure fee $10 (U.S.), payable in U.S. dollars or local currency (lek). 4. Special Notices

     Any person subject to the jurisdiction of the United States or any corporation, partnership, organization or association considering the operation of an aircraft into Albania must review current Department of Commerce and Department of State Regulations providing guidance relating to trade and other transactions involving Albania.
