The categories of airports are:

M-Major

International airports of entry and departure where all formalities incident to Customs, Immigration, Health and similar procedures are carried out, and which are open to scheduled and nonscheduled flights.

R-Restricted

International airports of entry and departure at which the formalities incident to Customs, Immigration, Health and similar procedures are made available on a restricted basis, to flights with prior approval only.

A-Alternate

International airports specified in the flight plan to which a flight may proceed when it becomes inadvisable to land at the airport of intended landing.

N-Nonscheduled

International airports at which approval may be granted, provided the prescribed prior notice is given, for international nonscheduled flights only; no other form of international operation is permitted.

E-External

International airports of entry and departure for international air traffic located in an administered territory, where all formalities incident to Customs, Immigration, Health and similar procedures are available.

2. Further Entry Requirements

     1. Passport and visa required. Visa for stay of up to 21 days, requires 1 application form, 1 photo, and $60 to $95 processing fee (fees vary according processing time). For stays longer than 21 days, but not exceeding 90 days, an official invitation from a qualifying entity in Armenia is required ($35 to $65 fee). No fee for children under 18 years of age. If applying by mail, enclose a SASE or prepaid air bill indicating type of mail service (i.e., Federal Express, etc.), and money order or certified check in the appropriate amount, payable to the Embassy of Armenia. 4. Special Notices

     PERMISSION FOR OVERFLIGHTS

     According to AIC Republic of Armenia Article 3.2 it is not necessary to submit preliminary requests for operating international transit flights of civil aircraft without landing in the Republic of Armenia airports. The FLT PLAN before each flight is enough.

     According to Article 3.3 the flights of foreign state aircraft and flights, connected with conveyance of Heads of Foreign States and Governments are conducted on the basis of permissions received through diplomatic channels via Armenian Republic Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
