M-Major

International airports of entry and departure where all formalities incident to Customs, Immigration, Health and similar procedures are carried out, and which are open to scheduled and nonscheduled flights.

R-Restricted

International airports of entry and departure at which the formalities incident to Customs, Immigration, Health and similar procedures are made available on a restricted basis, to flights with prior approval only.

A-Alternate

International airports specified in the flight plan to which a flight may proceed when it becomes inadvisable to land at the airport of intended landing.

N-Nonscheduled

International airports at which approval may be granted, provided the prescribed prior notice is given, for international nonscheduled flights only; no other form of international operation is permitted.

E-External

International airports of entry and departure for international air traffic located in an administered territory, where all formalities incident to Customs, Immigration, Health and similar procedures are available.

2. Further Entry Requirements

1. All private and nonscheduled commercial aircraft overflying or landing for commercial or noncommercial purposes must request prior permission from the Minister of External Relations (TELEX 8252KN) and from the Director of Civil Aviation (TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: AEROCIVILE YAOUNDE/TELEX: 8214KN, ICAO ADDRESS: FKKYYA), both in Yaounde, Cameroon, at least 10 working days prior to departure. It is advisable, if possible, to provide itinerary earlier. Clearance will not be granted more than 48-24 hours before the requested overflight and/or landing. Requestor should follow up directly with Civil Aviation no earlier than 72 hours before planned overflight. All requests must be submitted in duplicate and all approvals must have the concurrence of the Ministry of External Relations. All requests must be copied to the Economic Office, U.S. Embassy, Yaounde, Cameroon (TELEX: 8223KN), but the Embassy cannot assist unless the above procedures have been complied with.

2. All applications must include:

a. Type of aircraft.

b. Registration of aircraft.

c. Name of pilot.

d. Number of crew.

e. Number of passengers.

f. Origin of aircraft.

g. Destination of aircraft.

h. Airport of stopover.

i. Airport of exit.

j. Nature of cargo.

k. Date of entry and departure.

l. Purpose of visit.

m. Services required.

3. Passport and visa required. Obtain visa before arrival. Proof of yellow fever immunization required. For specific requirements, consult the Embassy of the Republic of Cameroon, 2349 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20008 (202/265-8790 to 8794).

3. Corporate Aircraft Constraints

Cabotage of corporate personnel only is permitted. Overflights and landing of flights to/from South Africa prohibited. No other constraints reported.

4. Special Notices

No application for an aircraft originating from or registered in South Africa is accepted in Cameroon.
