The categories of airports are:

M-Major

International airports of entry and departure where all formalities incident to Customs, Immigration, Health and similar procedures are carried out, and which are open to scheduled and nonscheduled flights.

R-Restricted

International airports of entry and departure at which the formalities incident to Customs, Immigration, Health and similar procedures are made available on a restricted basis, to flights with prior approval only.

A-Alternate

International airports specified in the flight plan to which a flight may proceed when it becomes inadvisable to land at the airport of intended landing.

N-Nonscheduled

International airports at which approval may be granted, provided the prescribed prior notice is given, for international nonscheduled flights only; no other form of international operation is permitted.

E-External

International airports of entry and departure for international air traffic located in an administered territory, where all formalities incident to Customs, Immigration, Health and similar procedures are available.

2. Further Entry Requirements

     1. General Regulations. Transport permission comprises entry permission for foreign aircraft. The permission does not replace approvals, exemptions or licences required pursuant to Air Traffic Law and other laws of the Republic of Croatia.

     2. Nonscheduled Air Traffic Procedure for Obtaining Permission for Foreign Aircraft to Enter and Operate in the Republic of Croatia. For commercial flights with traffic stops in the Republic of Croatia, a transport permission shall be requested from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Communications not later than:

       a. Two full workdays prior to the beginning fo the flight.

       b. Fifteen days for a series of more than four flights (chain of flights). Address:

     3. Non-stop Transit Flights. For non-stop transit flights the application requirements stated in paragraph 2, above, are applicable. The transport permission is deemed to be granted if the aircraft has been registered in a State having ratified the ICAO Convention and permitting non-stop transit flights by aircraft registered in the Republic of Croatia without approval.

     4. Reciprocity Clause. A transport permission for foreign aircraft will always be granted under the proviso that the State of origin of the aircraft operating agency likewise approves applications of Croatian aircraft operating agencies for performance of nonscheduled commercial flights.

     5. Noncommercial Air Traffic. For noncommercial flights of foreign aircraft within the territory and the airspace of the Republic of Croatia, no entry and transit permission is required if the aircraft is registered in an ICAO member State. For noncommercial flights of foreign aircraft, with the unit passengers seating capacity exceeding ten, within the territory and the airspace of the Republic of Croatia, if the aircraft is registered in an ICAO member State, transport permission is required.

     6. All IFR flight plans (FPL) should be forwarded to LDZOZQZX.

     7. All VFR flight plans (FPL) should be forwarded to LDZOZFZX.

     8. Passport required. Visa not required for tourist/business stay of up to 90 days. For stays over 3 months, a visa is required and should be obtained in advance.
