2. Further Entry Requirements

     1. All private and nonscheduled commercial flights overflying or landing for commercial or noncommercial reasons must obtain prior permission from the Directorate General of Air Communications (DGAC), Jalan Angkasa No. 2, Jakarta Pusat, Republic of Indonesia (Telegraphic Address: CIVILAIR JAKARTA; Telex: 49482 CIVAIR IA). In addition to clearance from DGAC, approval from the Department of Foreign Affairs (Directorate Consulate Affairs, Jalan Taman Pejambon No. 6) and the Department of Defense and Security (CILANGKAP) is required. Permission should be requested through local firms acting as representatives or supplying aircraft services. The American Embassy can furnish names, upon request, for U.S. registered aircraft only, of firms and/or suppliers that may be willing to assist in obtaining flight authorizations for operators that do not have regular representatives. Because of the number of Indonesian departments involved in the authorization process, all nonscheduled overflight or landing requests must be submitted to the DGAC and other GOI Departments at least 14 working days prior to departure. All request must include:

       a. Name, address and nationality of operator.

       b. Type and registration marks of aircraft.

       c. Date and time of arrival/departure from airports in Indonesia.

       d. Place of embarkation and disembarkation abroad.

       e. Purpose of flight.

       f. Number of passengers.

       g. Type and amount of cargo. On charter flights, the information should include:

         (1) Name, address and business of the charterer, if any.

         (2) Number of passengers.

         (3) Type and amount of cargo.

     2. Passport and onward/return ticket required. Visa not required for tourist stay of up to 2 months (non-extendible). Letter of intent from employer or sponsor required for business/social and temporary stay visa. For longer stays and additional information, consult the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, 2020 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20036 (202/775-5200) or nearest Consulate General: CA (213/383-5126 or 415/474-9571), IL (312/595-1777), NY (212/879-0600) or TX (713/785-1691).
