Aircraft Entry Requirements

Permission

1. If an operator intends to perform a nonscheduled flight or a series of flights into Zambia for the purposes of taking on or discharging passengers, cargo, or mail, he shall apply for a temporary air service permit (TASP) to: The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications and Transport, P.O. Box 50065, Lusaka, Zambia (Telegraphic Address: AVIATION LUSAKA; Telex: 42280).

2. If the Permanent Secretary has no objections to the application, the request will be referred to the Director of Civil Aviation who will provide an operations clearance.

3. The applicant for a temporary permit will not commence with the flight until he has been issued with a TASP and the number is known. The applicant must make a prepayment to The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications and Transport as per charges below.

4. Fees:

Permit fee for temporary permit- 2200 KWACHA
Small aircraft- 3500 KWACHA
Medium aircraft- 4200 KWACHA
Large aircraft- 5040 KWACHA

NOTE- Commercial flights overflying the Republic of Zambia do not normally require prior clearance other than normal flight plans and procedures.

5. Request for clearance and acceptance in respect to nonscheduled flights referred to above should be received by the Ministry of Communications and Transport or the Director of Civil Aviation six working days before the flight into or over Zambia is to take place.

6. Request for a TASP must include the following information in the order shown:

a. Name of operator and address.

b. Aircraft type, registration marks, flight number.

c. Departure point with date and time, route within Zambia and date at destination.

d. Date and time of departure from Zambia, route, and destination.

e. Name of captain and number of crew.

f. General nature, weight, and consignee of freight, if any.

g. Number and nationality of passengers.

h. Purpose of flight.

i. Name of charter, if any.

7. Private flights over, into, or within the Republic of Zambia. All private international flights requiring to land in or overfly the Republic of Zambia and all domestic private flights do not need any prior permission. A flight plan is sufficient.

8. State or Military. Except where a special agreement between Zambia and another state exist, application should be made to the Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs, P.O. Box 50069, Lusaka, Zambia.

Corporate Aircraft Restraints

Cabotage requires permission of the Department of Civil Aviation.

Special Notices

Scheduled flights into or overflying Zambian airspace must submit their operating time tables for the next 6 months to Zambian Air Force Headquarters through DCA Headquarters, Foreign Affairs Ministry or Zambian Air Force Liaison Officer at Lusaka International Airport, 24 hours before departure.
