WELCOME TO THE AIR TRAFFIC SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS SERVICE (ARS)  HOMEPAGE

Communications and Navigation (ARN)

The ARN organization is responsible for requirements management of the solution implementation phase of the lifecycle acquisition management. ARN transforms the previous analyses (mission analysis and investment analysis) into the material, hardware, software, or service and capability that will perform the mission. We ensure the allocation and traceability of the fRD requirements are carried down to the subsequent detail specifications. ARN divisions work closely with ATS stakeholders and the product team to ensure implementation of operationally effective and maintainable solutions in the following communication and navigation domains:

Navigation Division (ARN-100)

The Navigation Division is responsible for ensuring that navigation solutions are developed to meet National Airspace System requirements are implemented on time, within budget, and within performance expectations. ARN-100 also ensures that solutions meet the originally stated need, and provide the expected benefits to our stakeholders. Programs include ground and satellite based navigation systems.

Communications Division (ARN-200)

The Communications Division is responsible for ensuring that solutions developed to meet National Airspace System requirements for communications service are implemented on time, within budget, and within performance expectations. ARN-200 also ensures that communications solutions meet the originally stated need, and provide the expected benefits to our stakeholders. Programs include air/ground and ground/ground communications, telecommunications, voice switching & recording and digital voice communications.
