TOUR INFORMATION

Pilots - Pilots can request a tour by making the request on Ground Control Frequency 121.9 while taxiing to the ramp, or by calling the facility at the telephone number listed below.

Other groups or organizations may request a tour of our facility by calling our business office at 1-309-799-5195. Normally someone will take your information and will call you back. This allows the supervisor in charge of the operations, to decide if your tour can be accommodated on the date and the time you have requested.

If you plan on requesting a tour, please keep the following in mind:

    1. Because of space, tour groups larger than 18 cannot be accommodated. Many large groups have had good luck in scheduling a tour at both the tower, and another airport agency at the same time, dividing their group into smaller groups.

Other groups have found it easier to request one of our controllers to come speak to them at their classroom / meeting area etc.

    2. It has been our experience that children under the age of 10 (4th Grade) do not gain much from a tour of our facility. This is especially true at times when there is a lull in traffic and not much to look at.

    3. We ask that all tour groups be respectful of our work environment. The number one job of the Air Traffic Controller is Safety. If a tour group becomes disruptive because of noise or behavior, you will be asked to leave.

    4. If your group ever has a question about our operations, we always welcome them. If you have more questions after the tour, please feel free to call and our staff will do their best in finding you the answer, or putting you in contact with the office / agency that has the answer.

    5. We are an agency of the Federal Government. There are times when, for security reasons, we are simply unable to allow visitors.
