AFSUPCOM Communications
The
National and Regional Chairs are tasked with meeting with AAF-1 and their
Regional Division Managers respectively, on a
quarterly basis to provide updated field perspective and elevate
field issues.
The charter of AFSUPCOM is primarily as a communications
organization from the field to high level FAA officials.
However, the communications role of SUPCOM has been expanded to
provide vital information to the field organizations as quickly as
possible.
AFSUPCOM holds monthly national telcons.
Current up-to-date information is shared on the national telcons
concerning issues of interest to field supervisors.
Subject matter experts from national offices often join the telcons
to provide clear late breaking news.
AFSUPCOM is represented on many national teams, and a
responsibility that comes with membership is to provide briefings
concerning team progress on the monthly telcons.
AFSUPCOM has developed an extensive communications network
utilizing both voice and data transmission.
Today AFSUPCOM can provide information to all levels of the
organization, sometimes within hours.
AFSUPCOM
Organization
As
established in FAA Order 1110.104, AF field supervisors can communicate
issues and concerns through the AFSUPCOM organization directly to key
officials in FAA.
The AFSUPCOM organization has a three-tiered structure.
Each Systems Management Office (SMO) has SUPCOM representatives; the
SMO representatives attend the regional meetings and elect a Regional
Executive Board.
The Regional Executive Board is comprised of a Chair, Vice-Chair,
Executive Board Member, and the Regional Past Chair. Each
regional Chair and Vice-Chair attend the national conference and form the
National AFSUPCOM Committee.
The National Executive Board members are elected from the national
committee.
The officers are the Chair, Vice-Chair, Board Member, and National
Past Chair. |
