Inmarsat-4 is a communications satellite manufactured by EADS Astrium of Toulouse, France. The Inmarsat-4 satellite will support the new Broadband Global Area Network (B-GAN) for Internet and Intranet solutions, video on demand, video-conferencing, fax, email, telephone, and high speed Local Area Network (LAN) access. The Inmarsat-4 satellite is owned and will be operated by Inmarsat Corporation, based in London, U. K. The spacecraft will enable Inmarsat Corporation to address a wide area covering most of Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, as well as the Indian Ocean. This is the first satellite in a 4 satellite series.
