Jim Kouzes reminds us that when we own something we are motivated to take care of it. Kouzes suggests two things are necessary to enable others to act: Leaders must foster collaboration by building trust and facilitating relationships and strengthen others by increasing their self determination and developing their competency. Leaders must treat people with dignity and respect and build a collaborative environment to accomplish their goals.
