John M. Tippets authored the book "Hearts of Courage" which is the personal account of Joseph Tippets, one of the four passengers who survived for a month before being rescued. Not only did he survive, but the young engineer for the Civil Aviation Authority in Anchorage, went on to serve twice at FAA Headquarters, and as the FAA Western Regional Director.
