Tomas C. Accardi is Aviation System Standards’ new program director. Accardi, who has been holding a senior faculty position at the Federal Executive Institute in Charlottesville, Va., started his duties here on May 3.
Accardi began his FAA career as an air traffic controller in 1977. In 1978 he joined Flight Standards as an aviation safety inspector and in 1991 became director of Flight Standards Service.
He holds the Masters Degree in Public Administration from Long Island University in New York, and is an airline transport pilot with 5,000 hours flight experience.
The Accardis, Tom his wife Deborah and their daughter Michelle (7) are moving from Charlottesville to Edmond.
FAA's Aviation System Standards (AVN) promotes aviation safety by flight checking navigational equipment in the national airspace system and provides maintenance for some 50 FAA aircraft. AVN accomplishes its world-wide operations from its headquarters in Oklahoma City and field offices across the nation.
