Airman Medical Certification System Frequently Asked Questions

When did the Internet system become effective?
On October 1, 1999 all U.S. civilian aviation medical examiners were required to submit their FAA Form 8500-8s via the Internet-based Airman Medical Certification System (AMCS). The system replaced the DOS-based version of AMCS. Military AMEs were required to transmit exams in October 2004.

International AMEs will be required to transmit all exams beginning June 30, 2008.
