Delegated Option Authorization (DOA)
A DOA is a manufacturer holding a current type certificate and production certificate issued under standard
procedures that is authorized by the FAA to conduct type, production, and airworthiness certification functions
in accordance with part 21, subpart
J.
A DAS is an organization authorized in accordance with 14 CFR part 21, subpart M, that:
- holds a domestic repair station certificate under 14 CFR part 145;
- holds an air carrier or commercial operator certificate under 14 CFR part 121; or,
- is a manufacturer of a product for which it has alteration authority under 14 CFR section 43.3(i).
The DAS must have adequate facilities and personnel appropriate to the products it maintains under its certificate.
Organizational Designated Airworthiness Representative (ODAR)
An ODAR is an organization that collectively meets the experience and technical requirements of an individual Manufacturing or Maintenance Designated Airworthiness Representative, as appropriate.
Special Federal Aviation Regulation Number 36 (SFAR 36)
An SFAR 36 is a repair station, air carrier, or commercial operator authorized to develop and use major repair
data that are not specifically approved by the FAA Administrator in accordance with
SFAR 36 (PDF) .
