How to update your DRS Profile?
The Designee Registration System (DRS) tracks and manages the training program for AIR-110. It is necessary for all DRS users to maintain their current profile information. Users must update their profile to indicate their role and designee number. Updating this information will, among other things, assure that your seminar attendance and course completions are accurately updated in the Designee Information Network (DIN).

This applies to:
  • Designated Engineering Representatives (DER)
  • Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) Administrators
  • ODA Unit Members (UM)

How to update your profile:
  1. Log into the Designee Registration System.
  2. Under the Student Menu, click on Your Profile to go to the User Profile Options page.
  3. Click on Manage Your Role (if applicable) to go to the Edit Your Role page.
  4. Select Designee and click on the Next button.
  5. Your Designations:

    DER: Under the Individual Section:
    1. Designation Field: Click on the Designation Drop down and Select a role.
    2. Number Field: Enter your DER Number.
    3. Click on the Add button.

ODA Administrators: Under the Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) Section:
    1. Designation Field: Click on the Designation Drop down and Select a role.
    2. Number Field: Enter your ODA number.
    3. Click on the Add button.

ODA UMs: Under the Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) Section:
    1. Designation Field: Click on the Designation Drop down and Select a role.
    2. Number Field: Leave Blank (ODA UM do not have a designee number).
    3. Click on the Add button.

  6. Multiple Designations:
DRS will allow you to include as many designations as you have. If you are both a Company and a Consultant DER or if you are an ODA Administrator for multiple ODAs, you should have separate Roles (and respective Designee Numbers) listed for each.

How do I identify the core courses required for my rating?

At this time we have not implemented any "core" versus "extra-curricular" courses. In order to fulfill your recurrent training requirement you have to complete all of the courses included in the Online Recurrent Session. In the future we hope to implement a system that will include "core" courses and will allow the users to select a specified amount/number of additional courses. For now, the recurrent training works the same as it did "in-person". The designees are required to complete all of the topics within the technical session applicable to their authorization. Renewal Requirements. Are the online courses based on calendar year or my DER renewal cycle?

The requirements for DER Recurrent training are contained in Para 803 (g) of FAA Order 8100.8D.  The online training has NOT changed that requirement.  For example, if you last completed recurrent training anytime in 2012 then you must complete recurrent training during 2014, i.e. before January 1, 2015.

FAA Order 8100.8D paragraph 803.g. states:

"DERs must attend a recurrent seminar every 2 calendar years to maintain their knowledge of the regulations and policies and as a condition for renewal. DERs may satisfy the 2 year requirement by attending a DER seminar in the calendar year it is due."

What is the cost associated with the online Engineering Designee Recurrent training?

At this time the courses will maintain at the same cost as in previous years. The Engineering Designee Seminar program is a revenue neutral program which means that the cost of tuition must match the costs incurred to develop and deliver the courses. The tuition may increase in the future due to the increased course development expenses. Jump to top

Will there be a course printout available with the online training?

Yes. Each course/topic will include a PDF document for download. This document will include the course content, transcript, glossary and resources. The online courses include a Glossary and Resource tab with links to the most current AC, Orders, TSO, Regulatory and Guidance Library and Handouts where applicable. Jump to top

A passing grade is 70%. If a student does not receive a passing grade they can re-take the test as many times as they want until they pass the test. Once they have completed the test, if they did not get a 70% or higher, they can either go back through the course or they can just return directly to the course summary page, using the Table of Contents function, and immediately retake the test to try to achieve a passing grade.
