General Information

What is the cost associated with the online Engineering Designee Recurrent training?

At this time the courses will maintain the same cost as in previous years, however in the future the cost may change. The Engineering Designee Seminar program is a revenue neutral program which means that the cost of tuition must match the costs incurred to develop and deliver the courses. Online course development costs may, in the future, necessitate an increase in tuition due to the increase in development and delivery expense. Jump to top

Will there be a printout or CD of all DER disciplines available with the online training?

Yes. Each course/topic will include a document in pdf format for download. This document will include the course content and transcript. The online courses will also include a Glossary and Resource tab with links to the most current AC, Orders, TSO, Regulatory and Guidance Library and Handouts where applicable. Jump to top

When does the course expire and when must I finish the course?

Electrical: December 31, 2013
Structures: December 31, 2013

Example: The Electrical course consists of 7 courses. You must have all courses completed by December 31, 2013 to receive credit for the Electrical Module. However, this completion date is NOT related to your recurrent training requirements. December 31, 2013 is the date that these courses are set to expire to be replaced by new courses. Jump to top

Are the online courses based on calendar year or is the course credit based on my DER renewal cycle time frame?

The requirements for DER Recurrent training are contained in Para 803 (g) of FAA Order 8100.8D. The online training has not changed that requirement. "DERs may satisfy the 2 year requirement by attending a DER seminar in the calendar year it is due." Jump to top

How do I get a copy of my Certificate of Completion?

If you need a copy of your certificate or lost a certificate, you can retrieve a copy of your certificate by logging into the Designee Registration System. Jump to top

I clicked on 'begin course' and nothing happens?

Turn off pop-up blocker. Refresh or log out and log back in.

Internet Explorer 8
1.To turn off pop up blocker, click on Tools on the menu bar. A drop-down menu will appear.
2.Select Pop-up Blocker from the drop-down menu.
3.Click Turn Off Pop-up Blocker.

Chrome
1.Click the wrench icon on the browser toolbar.
2.Select Settings.
3.Click Show advanced settings.
4.in the "Privacy" section, click the Content settings button.
5.In the "Pop-ups" section, click Manage exceptions.

Mozilla Firefox
1.Open the Tools menu and click on Options
2.Click on the Web Features icon in the list on the left.
3.Remove the check mark beside the Block Pop-up windows option.
4.Click OK to close the window.

Safari
1.Open the Safari menu and select the Preferences option.
2.In the window that displays, click on the Security option.
3.Remove the check mark from the Block pop-up windows option.

Why does the Web Site log me out?

This will occur if you have been inactive on the site for over an hour; while taking a course for a long period of time; or by keeping your browser window open while working on something else. Jump to top

I registered for the Structures online recurrent training. Do I have to take all 5 topics sequentially in the same day or can I take the topics on different days?

The topics can be taken in any order you prefer and any of the courses can be exited and then returned to at a later time as the courses are set to Bookmark your progress. There are additional instructions on the completion of the courses on the Designees Tap in Blackboard. Jump to top

I just completed a course. Why does it not have a check mark on the report card?

The Designee Home Page includes a Report Card, however, there is at least a 10-15 minute delay for the scores to update. Jump to top
