Designated Engineering Representative (DER) - provides a general update of topics of interest to DERs, and presents breakout or workshop sessions for individual technical specialties (i.e. structure, systems and equipment, etc.). A selected host ACO presents these seminars, with participation from various FAA and industry representatives.

A DER recurrent seminar may be presented in conjunction with a standardization seminar.

Designated Mechanic Examiners (DME) & Designated Parachute Rigger Examiners (DPRE) - Recurrent Technical Personnel Examiner Seminar - is a shortened version of the initial standardization seminar with focus on practical test standards, review of policy and process. This is a 1-day seminar, and is required every 2 years.

Designated Pilot Examiners (DPE) - provides emphasis on the oral and practical tests and practical test standards used by the examiners; use of the related forms, test planning, evaluation of applicants, and certification file disposition. This training is provided in two parts:
  • Part 1 is On-Line training; and,
  • Part 2 is a 1-day, face-to-face seminar. You must complete Part 1 before attending Part 2. This training is required for DPE Renewal.
  • Maintenance (DAR, ODAR, SFAR-36, etc.) - provides a review of FAA administrative procedures, methods, and practices used by persons involved in the civil certification process. Particular attention is paid to new or revised certification policies and procedures. Attendees include air carrier, repair station, manufacturing, and maintenance personnel, as well as management or marketing persons within these organizations. This is a 3-day seminar.

    Manufacturing (DAR, ODAR, DMIR, etc.) - provides a review of FAA administrative procedures, methods, and practices used by persons involved in the civil certification process. Particular attention is paid to new or revised certification policies and procedures. Attendees include air carrier, repair station, manufacturing, and maintenance personnel, as well as management or marketing persons within these organizations. This is a 3-day seminar.
