Standardization Seminars
Designated Engineering Representative (DER) – provides familiarization of FAA administrative procedures, DER roles and responsibilities, and an overview of the type certification process. This initial seminar lasts 1 ½ to 2 days, and is for all DER applicants, prospective engineering members of a delegated organization, and anyone interested in DER functions. Seminar attendance is required prior to appointment as a DER, identification as a DER candidate, or selection as an engineering staff member of a delegated organization.
Designated Mechanic Examiners (DME) and Designated Parachute Rigger Examiners (DPRE) – Initial Technical Personnel Examiner Standardization Seminar – provides emphasis on the oral and practical tests and practical test standards used by the examiners; use of the related forms, test planning, evaluation of applicants, and certification file disposition. This initial lecture and workshop seminar lasts 3 days, and is for all prospective examiners.
Designated Pilot Examiners (DPE) – provides emphasis on the oral and practical tests and practical test standards used by the examiners; use of the related forms, test planning, evaluation of applicants, and certification file disposition. This initial lecture and workshop seminar lasts 5 days, and is for all prospective examiners.
Light Sport/ Amateur Built Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR) – provides an overview of FAA administrative procedures, methods, and practices used by persons involved in the civil certification process for both light sport and amateur built aircraft. We use FAA inspectors and subject matter experts from industry to provide this 3-day training.
Manufacturing and Maintenance (DAR, DMIR, ODAR, DAR-T, and ODAR-T) – provides an overview of FAA administrative procedures, methods, and practices used by persons involved in the civil certification process. Attendees include air carrier, repair station, manufacturing, and maintenance personnel, as well as management or marketing persons within these organizations. This training is provided in two parts: Part 1 is On-Line training; and, Part 2 is a 3- to 4-day, face-to-face seminar.
