Other companies not operating under the requirements of the PRIA statute, such as those under 14 CFR part 91, who would like to initiate a similar background check concerning the hiring of their pilot-applicants, may submit their requests under the authority of either the Privacy Act (PA) or the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). An individual pilot may also use this same process to submit a request for their own personal record of accidents, incidents, or enforcement history.
