43-210A AFS-300 Standardized Procedures for Obtaining Approval of Data Used in the Performance of Major Repairs and Major Alterations

This advisory circular (AC) describes a standardized procedure for requesting approval of technical data associated with major repairs/major alterations. This AC also provides information that can help determine if a proposed repair/alteration requires approved data, guidance and standardized procedures for obtaining field approval (or approval by other means) of data, and instructions for completing the field approval checklist. This AC is not mandatory and does not constitute a regulation. This AC describes an acceptable means, but not the only means, to obtain approved data for a major repair or major alteration. However, if you—whether you’re an aircraft owner, operator, or Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT), collectively termed an applicant—use the means described in the AC, you must follow it in all important respects.

150/5335-5C AAS-100 Standardized Method of Reporting Airport Pavement Strength - PCN

This AC provides guidance for using the standardized International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) method, called the Aircraft Classification Number – Pavement Classification Number (ACN-PCN) method, to report airport runway, taxiway, and apron pavement strength. Includes instructions for using the COMFAA program to calculate ACN values to determine PCN.

Also provides guidance for reporting changes to airport data that is generally published on Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Form 5010, Airport Master Record, particularly those data elements associated with Gross Weight (Data Elements 35 through 38) and Pavement Classification Number (Data Element 39).

23-23 ACE-100 Standardization Guide for Integrated Cockpits in Part 23 Airplanes The AC acknowledges the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) Publication #12, “Recommended Practices and Guidelines for an Integrated Flightdeck/Cockpit in a 14 CFR (or equivalent) Certificated Airplane,” as an acceptable means for showing compliance with applicable requirements for electronic displays in part 23 airplanes. Guidance in AC 23.1311, SAE, and RTCA documents was used in developing the GAMA Publication #12. (GAMA Publication #12 is available from GAMA. Their website is 222.gama.aera.) SOP’s are universally recognized as basic to safe aviation operations. Effective crew coordination and crew performance, two central concepts of crew resource management depend upon the crew’s having a shared mental model of each task. That mental model, in turn, is founded on SOP’s. This AC emphasizes that SOP’s must be clear, comprehensive, and readily available in the manuals used by flight deck crewmembers. This advisory circular (AC) explains the stall and spin awareness training required under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 61 and offers guidance to flight instructors who provide that training. In addition, this AC informs pilots of the airworthiness standards for the type certification of normal, utility, and acrobatic category airplanes prescribed in 14 CFR part 23, section 23.221, concerning spin maneuvers, and it emphasizes the importance of observing restrictions that prohibit the intentional spinning of certain airplanes.

120-109A AFS-200 Stall Prevention and Recovery Training

This advisory circular (AC) provides guidance for training, testing, and checking pilots to ensure correct responses to impending and full stalls. For air carriers, Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 121 contains the applicable regulatory requirements. Although this AC is directed to part 121 air carriers, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) encourages all air carriers, airplane operators, pilot schools, and training centers to use this guidance for stall prevention training, testing, and checking. This guidance was created for operators of transport category airplanes; however, many of the principles apply to all airplanes. The content was developed based on a review of recommended practices developed by major airplane manufacturers, labor organizations, air carriers, training organizations, simulator manufacturers, and industry representative organizations.

This advisory circular (AC) provides suggestions to improve sport parachuting safety and disseminates information to assist all parties associated with sport parachuting to be conducted in compliance with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 105. It also contains information for jumpers and riggers on parachuting equipment, on-airport parachuting operations, jump pilot training, aircraft maintenance programs, parachute rigging, and procedures for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) authorization for flight operations with a removed or modified door.
